Karl Palmås (b. 1976) is a researcher whose work focuses on the relationship between the built and the conceptual. Drawing on sociological perspectives and visual methods, he studies how design professions shape the built environment. Palmås is currently an Associate Professor of Innovation and Societal Change at the Division of Science, Technology, and Society, Department of Technology Management and Economics, at Chalmers University of Technology.
Karl Palmås (b. 1976) is a researcher at the Division of Science, Technology and Society. Originally trained as an engineer, he holds a doctorate in sociology from the London School of Economics & Political Science, and has worked as associate professor at Chalmers University of Technology since 2012. Karl studies and teaches on the relation between the things we build and the things we think – how technological designs interrelate with social imaginaries.
Palmås has been a member of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKL) program committee for the governance of publicly funded activities, in the Regional Ethical Review Board in Gothenburg, in the expert group of the Digitalization Commission, in the steering group for the Meeting Place Social Innovation, and in the reference group for the former Nutek’s investigation on capital supply to social enterprises. During the European Parliament election in 2014, Palmås was listed 24th on the Green Party’s ballot.
Karl Palmås contributed an essay to Kalle Sanner’s Lukas/Markus (LL’Editions & Blackbook Publications).
In 2024, LL’Editions released Vår Tids Konst by Karl Palmås and Kalle Sanner, also co-published with Blackbook Publications.
