CONTRIBUTION EKTA SKETCHBOOKS I–III
For Ekta Sketchbooks I–III, Bromander wrote a semi-fictional story about EKTA, based on his interpretations of the sketchbooks.
Henrik Bromander (b. 1982, Växjö) is a Swedish writer, dramatist and cartoonist. Bromander debuted in 2005 with the comic book ’Hur vi ser på varandra’ and has since authored a number of graphic novels and novels.
In 2017, Henrik Bromander was nominated for the prestigious Swedish Radio’s Award for Best Novel, for his book ‘Vän av Ordning‘ (Friend of Order).
In 2019, Swedish National Television aired the series ‘Kurs i Självutplåning’, based on Bromander’s graphic novel of the same title.
Other books by Henrik Bromander include ‘Högspänning‘ (Atlas 2019), ‘Bara en Kram‘ (Atlas 2017), ‘Hatets Triangel’ (Lystring 2017) the aforementioned ‘Vän av Ordning’ (Atlas 2016), ‘Riv Alla Tempel‘ (Atlas 2014), ‘Korrespondensteorin’ (Lystring 2013) and ‘Det Händer Här’ (Ordfront 2009). Both ‘Hatets Triangel’ and ‘Korrespondensteorin’ features works by LL’Editions affiliated artist Daniel EKTA Götesson on their covers.
In 2021, ‘Skymningstid‘ was released by Weyler förlag. The book is a political thriller that depicts the Stay Behind network. A reviewer from Expressen writes that Henrik Bromander, through this book, has charted a better and healthier path for Swedish fiction.
Henrik Bromander contributed the essay ‘Minnen av Ekta’ (Memories of Ekta) to Ekta Sketchbooks I-III by Daniel EKTA Götesson, published by LL’Editons in 2017. The three books in the set, published by LL’Editions, are beautifully crafted facsimile reproductions of the artist’s sketchbooks. Each page of the original books has been scanned and meticulously post-produced. Every volume has been assigned a specific colour, which is used for the end-papers, head-bands, tail-bands and book-marks. The books are housed in handmade, cloth-bound slipcases which are painted by the artist, one by one, making each set unique. Each set is also signed and numbered by the artist.
Beside’s Bromander’s contribution, the supplementary booklet, enclosed in a pocket inside the back cover of volume III, also includes is a critical essay by artists and gallerists Mattia Lullini and Alina Vergnano of Nevven Gallery.
