As new
Like many, Bart Lodewijks has been drawing with chalk on the pavement since a young age, never bothered by the transitory nature of a medium that washes away with rain or is smudged by passers-by. Nowadays, the artist applies large linear drawings with chalk to walls, buildings and pavements, seemingly at random. The long, straight white lines bring the unseen potentials of their context to the surface. Becoming familiar with the locations and residents where he works, Lodewijks fully engages these areas, acquiring the stories that belong to places. This publication documents his unique experience through photographs of works and a narrative text by the artist.
